Ethylene application (gassing) with automation enabled
This article details the ethylene application procedure for rooms that are using automation.
How do I know if automation is enabled?
Rooms with automation enabled will show a star icon in the upper right from the main dashboard.
On the room page, the same icon will show next to the room name with "Automation enabled" next to it.
How does ethylene application work with automation?
Please complete these steps to prepare for ethylene application:
1. Load the room
2. Within the Strella app, follow the recommendations to set the target date, stage goal, and complete Daily QC for each room zone.
2. Fill the generator with the appropriate volume of concentrate for a 24 hour application
3. Close and lock the room
4. From the room control, tap on the Gas option
5. In gas settings, select Auto under Gas mode and set the Gas at Temp to 60° F
6. Send a text message to your Strella contact with the message "ready for gas" along with your facility name and your name. This step is for safety and quality.
What happens next:
Ethylene application will begin when the pulp temperature reaches 60° F. The Strella app will automatically update the the Gas Status to on based on the ethylene measurements. The Gas Status will revert to off after 24 hours.
After the ethylene application, please resume Daily QC in accordance with your regular schedule. Messages will appear on the main dashboard when Daily QC is due.
