Banana Photos

Edited

Images are one of the many inputs that Strella uses to evaluate banana stage progression during ripening. Images are captured during QC checks. Some of our retail customers also use our image QC model for staging after fruit ships from the DC.

General Instructions

  1. Ethylene gas application must be complete, with a minimum 2.0 stage on the Strella/Chiquita scale

  2. Bananas must be similar in color, +/- 0.50 color stage

  3. Plain background of any color without extraneous objects visible

  4. Bright and even lighting with minimal shadows

  5. Provide profile of bananas facing up and some showing the shoulder

  6. Take photo with Apple iPad approved by Strella

  7. Include a penetrometer with the measurement visible on the display in the photo for all QC checks completed on receiving day and shipment day. Images on other days do not require the penetrometer.
